Quartz var. Amethyst enhydro double-terminate crystal.  The enhydro bubble is right at the top in the middle and easy to see.  The intensity of colour here is very exaggerated - the crystal appears black in anything other than strong light.  A small but perfectly formed double terminated Amethyst Quartz crystal from the Brandberg locality of Namibia, which is  famed and highly desirable for the rarity of Amethyst combined with Smoky Quartz that are discovered here. 

The mining area known as Brandberg (Fire/Burnt Mountain) is in the Goboboseb area of Namibia.  Not too far from the blisteringly hot 'Skeleton Coast', the area is hot and dry and rather inaccessible, making mining conditions very tough. Crystal specimens are becoming increasingly hard to find; miners chisel away at the hard basalt rock, sometimes for weeks, before finding a pocket, which may yield only a few crystals.
